"Cantus Firmus" male octet, born in Mondovì in 1989, started originally to study and perform renaissance polyphony, during the years has enlarged his repertory including classical, spiritual-gospel, jazz and pop compositions mostly a cappella from 4 to 8 voices. In 20 years, the group has performed more than 350 concerts, and has been invited to important national and international festivals.
From 1994 to 2004 the group took part of the “Ruggiero Maghini” Philharmonic Choir of Turin, which regularly cooperates with the R.A.I. National Symphonic Orchestra of Turin. (national radio and television symphonic orchestra)
Since 1999 owns the organisation of the International Choral Festival “Città di Mondovì”, with workshops and masterclasses held by famous musicians and conductors such as Gary Graden, Angelo Agazzani, Nehemiah H. Brown, Jonathan Rathbone, Simon Carrington, Jens Johansen, Francisco Nuñez.
In 2003 they attended a specialization course held by Giovanni Acciai.
In 2004 they introduced Neri per caso concert in Mondovì.
“Cantus Firmus” produced and published three CDs: the first in 1998, with a selection of gospel and spiritual arranged by the conductor, the second in 2004, with a program of traditional christmas songs and the third in 2005, with pop and jazz arrangements.
